Example of writing to a simple SQLServer database

NOTE:  Copy & paste still doesn't work on this forum, at least not in my ie10 browser.

Does anyone have an exaple of a simple SQL Server database table write.

Perhaps one example of a Create -- "C" operation and one of an Update -- "U" operation.

I am looking for a particular URL for a specific example that does these operations, preferably with free downloadable code and files or easy to complete examples.
