Is it possible to dynamically assign users to a Userlist?

I have a review task that needs to be assign to multiple users.  However, I need the application user to control the assignment list.  The Participants section of the 'Assign Multiple Tasks' service allows the programmer to search the directory or to specify a user list asset or a string or an XPath expression but doesn't give any clue as to what the XPath expression should be.  I would like to specify, for example, a variable of type list, subtype string containing the comonName of the users to be part of the review.  However, when I select 'variable' as the input type, only String variables are presented in the selection box, no list-of-strings and no other objects that might be a list of users such as a com.adobe.livecycle.userlist.impl.Userlist. 

 

I have searched the SDK for any API that mimics the user selection interface but found nothing.  The type generated in the Workbench variable type selection tree is User in group UserManagerLookUp but it does not seem to match the structure of the Userlist generated by the 'New User List' wizard.  The former generates XML with a single object with root element com.adobe.idp.dsc.um.lookup.datamodel.User but the latter seems to have type com.adobe.livecycle.userlist.impl.Userlist with two children, a string element named userlistType a complex element principals containing com.adobe.livecycle.userlist.impl.UserlistPrincipal elements.

 

If I generate an object of type Userlist by searching for the type I get the com.adobe.livecycle.userlist.impl.Userlist type but when I try to acces the fields using XPath there is nothing (there should be a userlistType property in addition to the principals property described above).  Even if it worked properly, it does not appear in the list of variables when 'Variable' is selected as the input in the 'Participants' section (only string variables appear in the list).

 

Is there a way to dynamically create a user list to be assigned as a participant in 'Assign Multiple Tasks'?  I could create all possible lists but as there are 8 possible selections that would be 255 different lists and I'm not interested in that exercise.  Thanks in advance.

 

ANSWER:  YES.  Use a process to generate the list as follows:

  1. In the New User List wizard, on the page where it lists the User list population options, select the radio button Use a process to populate the user list.
  2. Select a process or create a new one.  The process output must be a single variable named users of type list and sub-type string.

That's all there is to it.  The process can have inputs which will be recognized by the 'Assign Multiple Users' wizard so that when you select that userlist as the participants, the wizard will detect that the process has input parameters and you will be prompted to specify the input parameters as an XPath expression or literal.

pdf generator fails to use MSWord

Hello,

I want to assemble some native documents to PDF.  Landscape is Windows 7 pro, JBoss turnkey, MS Office 2010 and OpenOffice 3.4. 

 

The server logs shows that PDF generator fails when trying to use MSWord...and then switches to fallback OpenOffice.  I did verify that could use Acrobat menu in Word to create PDF. The error from server log seems to be centered around:  calling funciton to  clean registry resiliency entry - ALC-PDG-001-000 Access is denied.  Thank you for any insight.  See server log snippet, below, for detail info.  (thank you for any insight):

Processing encrypted PDF with LC server APIs

Not sure where to put this topic but this seemed the best place.

The problem is that we want to secure our PDF files with password (so that users can't open it with Designer) but after the user returns the PDF, we can't process it because it's secured. Normally we could just unsecure the PDF but it is also Reader Extended and I think it messes things up.

Problem in short:
Build PDF (from XDP) -> Encrypt PDF -> Reader Extend PDF -> user fills PDF and sends it back -> remove Reader Extend and encryption (we want to create PDF/A and extract XML etc.) -> processing continues..

The "remove RE and encryption" seems the hardest part. We use LC via Web Service. The Reader Extension seems to go well off from the PDF but after that the EncryptionService throws some error if I try to call removePDFPasswordSecurity or unlockPDFUsingPassword methods (not sure which one is the correct). Any advices?

I'm facing an error while trying to generate a PDF through CreatePDF service (GeneratePDFService). It is converting .tif .jpg successfully into PDF but not converting text documents like .txt .doc etc

getDocAttribute() issue

I've tried to use the XPath method getDocAttribute("filename") to get the original name of an attachment (receive mail action) without success.
I've also tried "name" and "file" but it didn't work either.

Finally I found out, that content-type (getContentType()) contains the filename too (e.g.: 'application/pdf;name="file.pdf"').
I found nothing about that issue in the manuals.

Does anybody know if that behavior is a bug or if the documentation is not up-to-date.

LiveCycle workbench workspace is in use. You must close other

Hi All,

So we are trying to figure out how we would deploy the different tools
to end users and developers. We chose to go the Citrix route. Upon
installing workbench on the citrix box and testing to access, we got
the following msg:

"LiveCycle workbench workspace is in use. You must close other
instance before proceeding."

The way the problem was solved was to make the user an administrator
on the server. That's really not going to fly at this client. Does
anyone know why this was the case and how it could be fixed without
making the user an administrator?

What particular aspect did the user need to have rights so that the
error msg wouldn't show up again?

Please let me know and I definitely appreciate your help.

Hello All,

I am working on the process that need to submit the form to the right manager based on his/her empl ID but having a problem of getting it works. I am using the Single Query Row with SQL select statement from Oracle database which I can see the manager name for that employee when I test it alone but having a problem of putting it to send it to the Task Assign service.

Can anyone help with this. Any help would be appreciated.

Change Document Names in Map of Documents

I am taking the attachments from a completed task and putting them into a map of documents variable.  I was wondering if it is possible to change the names of the documents in the map?  I would like to be able to add an identifier to each document in the map.  Thanks.

How to print PDF with security PIN?

We are using Adobe livecycle in our project  to generate PDF and it automatically prints the the PDF file. Now my requirement is to set up the PIN to print in user computer. Example: Open Print dialog box and Go to Printing preference and then Select Job Storage tab where user can setup the PIN to print option then all the print job will be stored in the Printer memory and it prints only when user enter his PIN in the printer.

 

 

Is it can be achived in livecycle when print request is going directly to the printer from livecycle server?

Data Binding Value ('$.) does not correspond to a data connection

Hello!

 

    I have a form with an existing data connection to a schema and I want to change the connection to a different schema. After I change the connection, I receive error messages that the data binding value does not correspond to a data connection. I then go into the Binding Tab and set the binding using the 'Data Connection' to the element in the new schema. I then receive the error message, "Direct binding references to multiple levels of repeating data may not produce desired results. Form may require relative binding references for repeating subform containers.". Would anyone know what these errors are referring to? I'm not sure where I have gone wrong on the connection.

convert base64 encoded binary data to document

Hello,

for my project it is necessary that I take the response from a web service, which holds base64 encoded binary data, and transform it to document type, because I want to assign the result PDF to a user..I tried to bind the Input form variable from the Assign User operation to a simple XPath which points to the result data, but then I get the error [AWS] stalling action-instance: 833 with message: UserServiceImpl:createTaskFromDialogProperties() Exception - you have attempted to provide Form input of an invalid type, only com.adobe.ipd.Document or com.adobe.idp.taskmanager.form.FormInstance types are supported. Type attempted was: class org.apache.xerces.dom.DeferredElementNSImpl. That data are are correct, I can write them to a file and decode it manually, but that doesn't help me..Is there any way to decode base64 encoded data with a workbench process?

Set value with XPath dynamically

Dear All,

 

I am wonder if the following is possiable with Set Value service using XPath, any *simple* workaround is also welcome too.

 

If I have a variable myXML =

<root>

<item region="One">1</item>
<item region="Two">2</item>

</root>

 

I can reference to /root/item[1] by:

set /process/@myNum = 1

set /process/@dummy  = /process_data/myXml/root/item[number(\process\@myNum)]


But how can I access /root/item[@region="One"] ?

 

I tried the following but all failed:

1)

set /process/@myString = @region="One"

set /process/@dummy  = /process_data/myXml/root/item[string(\process\@myString)]

 

2)

set /process/@myString = One

set /process/@dummy  = /process_data/myXml/root/item[@region='string(\process\@myString)']

 

And are there any way to set a variable using template string? (i.e. You name is {$/process/@yourName$} )

generatePDFOutput with a variable form.

Hi

 

I have a process which uses generatePDFOutput2 to produce a PDF.  This works fine at the moment, but I need to pick the form based on a variable value which is passed in.

 

I've tried every combination of including the application name or not, with and wtihtout the version number, using forward slashes or backslashes and including the .xdp extension or not, but nothing seems to work.  The document I can find seems to be pretty vague on what I should put in.

 

Can anyone help?

 

For reference, the path of my form as viewd in the Applications tree is of the structure: APPNAME/APPNAME/1.0/Subfolder/Formname

When I use a literal value for the Form in generatePDFOutput2 is: URI = Subfolder/Formname.xdp, Created 6/12/10

Re-render or flaten PDF form after the form has filled and send its XML data to a specific folder

Hello Everyone,

 

Does any one know if it possible to re-render or flaten the pdf form after the user has filled it to send to a specific folder along with its XML data? If so, can you please provide some hints on how to start or any example would be appreciated.

e.g. The user filled the form on workspace then when he/she presses on completed, the form will be flatten as a pdf and generate an xml file to send to a specific location on the server.

Deadline task problems

Hi all,

I have a few questions on the Deadline task settings.

I have seen the option for omitting the deadline route from the task submit options, but I am unsure what effect this option has?

I have checked the option in Workbench and thought that it would remove this route from WOrkspace (remove the deadline route button), but this is not the case as I still see the button in Workspace.

Can you elaborate on the use of this option?

Also I have a problem with the "follow route" option. Even though I have not checked this option my process continues to the next step.

Is this the intended behaviour?

Last - but not least, I would like to know if it is possible to just change the task instructions when a deadline has occurred and let the user open the form and fill it out and click the appropriate button to continue the process? What happens now is that my process takes a route (if one exist) out of the deadlined step no matter what I do and I can not open the deadlined task it is just there in Workspace and I can only click the "remove deadlined" task button.

Please don't hesitate to ask questions if you don't understand what I mean :)
